Hi!
I was doing some experiments with transparent objects and I couldn't achieve
what I was looking for...
I did a scene with a flat ground and a ball on top of it.
-if the ball is solid and I have 'shadow'map' on, I get a nice soft shadow
-if the ball is transparent and 'shadow map' is on, I get THE SAME soft shadow
(the shadow doesn't show that the ball is transparent)
So the only solution to have a shadow that shows the tranparency of the ball
is to turn 'trace shadows on', right?! But the shadows will not be soft... I
would like to get soft, fluffy, 'translucent' shadows... Isn't that possible?!
I just started doing this experiment because I saw some of this in a Imagine
example. But I remember that I had lots of problems with shadows in the
past... Like: If I have a big spotlight and then small spotlights and every
light is casting shadows, I could't make the small spotlights to work... To
make them useful I had to turn off their shadows and leave just the big
spotlight shadow on!
Well, just wandering...
